Students in Free Enterprise, or SIFE, helps university students to make a difference in their communities.
The mission of SIFE UWA is to create local solutions to global problems. Every year, we generate a portfolio of projects targeting the most pressing issues facing our community.
Projects and activities

SIFE is a global not-for-profit organisation in almost 50 countries and over 1500 universities around the world.
Every July there is national conference and competition. SIFE teams present their projects to a panel of judges, normally business leaders. The winners compete in the SIFE World Cup.
Achievements
The SIFE UWA team has been very successful in its first five years. Here is a summary of the awards and grants SIFE UWA has received.
- HSBC Financial Literacy Grant - awarded for the Finance for Life project and is given to teams that demonstrate an educational program that shows innovation, an emphasis on financial literacy, and an ability to change lives.
- 2008: Reached SIFE World Cup semi-finals in Singapore.
- 2007/8: Won the national competition Brisbane.
- 2007/8: SIFE UWA's Finance for Life program recognised as the best SIFE Financial Literacy project in Australia by HSBC.
- 2007/8: SIFE UWA partnership with FBA was recognised as the Best Entrepreneurship Project conducted by a SIFE team in Australia.
- 2007: SIFE UWA elected to send a delegate to the Financial Literacy Forum in New York in recognition of our Finance for Life program
- 2006/07: Among the top four teams in the championship round at the SIFE Australia National Conference and Championship in Melbourne.
- 2006/07: Most Inspiring Community Initiative Award at the National Conference for ‘Most Inspiring Community Initiative’ for the project Balancing Your Body’s Business.
- 2005/06: Received the Spirit of SIFE Award which recognises the SIFE team that most embodies the philosophy of SIFE.
