The Business School Teaching and Learning Committee seeks to promote research activities associated with the scholarship of teaching and learning through a research grants scheme. All staff with teaching responsibilities are eligible to apply.

Guidelines

Approximately $50,000 is available each year and grants can be for amounts ranging from $1,000 up to a maximum of $20,000. Grants of amounts above $10,000 will also be assessed on the likelihood of publication of an article in a high quality teaching and learning journal.

Teaching and learning research grant proposals should normally have the following characteristics:

  • be project specific
  • contain a detailed budget proposal and justification for expenditure
  • be completed within 12 months.

Preference will be given to proposals that relate to the Business School Teaching and Learning Operational Priorities

Restrictions

  • Teaching relief from tutorials may be applied for but must be accompanied by a letter of support from the discipline chair. There is no teaching relief from lectures.
  • Research assistants employed under the scheme should be located at UWA.
  • Funding for computers and conference travel should not be included in the budget proposal as there are alternate sources of support for such funds.

Application process

The grants scheme has an open application process. This means you can prepare your application when the need arises and at a time of semester convenient to you.

Completed applications should be emailed to Phil Hancock, Associate Dean Teaching and Learning.

Proposals will be reviewed by a sub-committee of the Teaching and Learning Committee for subsequent endorsement by the Teaching and Learning Committee. Proposals should be submitted on the designated application form.

When the project is completed, the project leader is required to submit a report to the Teaching and Learning Committee. This report should be in accordance with the Guidelines for the Grant Scheme Guidelines the Final Report template listed below.
