Travel funding

Higher Degree by Research students are eligible to apply for travel funding to the value of $1750 during the course of their studies.

Guidelines for PhD and DBA students receiving funding support for research from the Business School.

Research grants for Master's by Research students are outside the scope of this policy and will be considered separately on a case-by-case basis.

Purpose and summary

The overall purpose of this policy is to provide a consistent, transparent and equitable set of guidelines regarding research grants available to Business School PhD and DBA students. This policy replaces all other related policies operating within the Business School prior to January 1, 2008.

For the Business School, research grants are directly aligned with the strategic objective of enhancing the School’s research capacity and capability. Creating a strong performance-based research culture will assist in raising the profile of the Business School on both the national and international arena. In addition, this will assist and encourage students to advance their research careers whilst contributing to the Business School.

Policy statement

This policy defines the guiding principles for the allocation of research funds to Business School students. The aim of allocating research funds to students is to assist them to undertake research, data collection, or to simply enhance their graduate studies experience.

  • A standard allocation of $3,500 per grant will be awarded to both full time and part time PhD and DBA Students.
  • International students are also eligible to receive funding.
  • This allocation is for the entire duration of candidature.

Research spending will be administered by the School’s Doctoral Programs Office.
