InoculateIT Anti-Virus
Step 1 - Open Inoculate
You can open the Inoculate Virus Scanner in one of two ways.
- If the Inoculate icon (a blue square with a yellow dot tracing a sine wave pattern) appears in the system tray, then right click on the icon and from the menu that appears, select Launch eTrust Inoculate
- If it does not appear in the system tray then go to Start- > Programs -> eTrust InoculateIT -> eTrust InoculateIT. The following window will appear:

Step 2 - Changing the settings
- Go to Scanner -> Local Scanner Options… The following window will appear:

On the Scan tab, in Infection Treatment section change:
- File Actions to Cure File
- Boot Sector Actions to Cure Boot Sector
- Click OK
Click File Options..., the following window will appear:

- Tick Copy File in Action to Perform Before Cure
- Tick Cure by Deleting in Trojan/Worm Treatment
- Select Rename File in Action to Perform If Cure Fails
- Select Remove Infected Macros in Macro Viruses Treatment
- Tick Enable System Cure in System Cure section
Go to Scanner -> Realtime Monitor Options… The following window will appear:

On the Scan tab, in Infection Treatment section change:
- File Actions to Cure File
- Boot Sector Actions to Cure Boot Sector
- Click OK
On the Advanced tab unclick Realtime Pop-up Messages

Go to Scanner -> Signature Update Options… The following window will appear:

- On the Schedule tab, tick "Enable Scheduled Download”
- In Repeat Every section select Days: 1
- Click on Incoming tab. The following window will appear:

- If there is anything in the “Sites to download signatures from:”, click on it and click Delete button
- Then click the Add button. The following window will appear:

- In the Method, select Redistribution Server
- In the Server Name type in tolar
- Click OK
- Your window should look like this:

- Click OK to close the window
Right click the blue square icon on the bottom bar menu (bottom right hand corner on your desktop)

Select Monitor Both Directions
Step 3 - Select drives to scan for viruses
- In the window panel on the left-hand side tick all the hard disk drives you have and wish to scan for viruses eg. C, D, E. (Refer to the first picture on the instructions)
- If you wish to scan the content of your floppy or zip disk, tick these too
Step 4 - Running a Virus Scan
- Press the green arrow (first icon on the left – Start Scan)
- The content of the disks you have selected will now be scanned for viruses
- All the infected files will be listed in the bottom window (see the picture below). Normally it will delete virus infected files. If you see anything unusual or that you think is wrong or you just need assistance, please contact the helpdesk on extension 7888.
