You have a couple of options to deal with junk email, and you can always check filtered email to make sure legitimate messages are not bounced by mistake.
Incoming emails considered to be junk are automatically moved to a folder on the H: drive and tagged with the title [spam]. You can access these emails to check legitimate emails have not been caught by the filtering process.
This folder is archived fortnightly. Messages are moved to a mailbox folder called spam for two weeks. Older messages are moved to a mailbox folder called spam-old.
Messages older than one month are permanently deleted.
To check the mailbox containing your archived spam:
Click on start then run and enter \\sol\homes\My Documents\Mail then click OK.


Or, log on to WebMail and navigate to this folder.
Outlook 2003 (available to all UWA staff) contains a built in spam filtering feature. To activate it, go to the tools menu and select options.

Click on junk email options to continue.

Select the level of junk mail protection you prefer. We recommend the low setting, unless spam is particularly disruptive, in which case choose the high setting.
Check your junk email mailbox regularly for legitimate messages being sent.

Eudora 6 and above includes a spam-filtering feature. To activate this feature you need to purchase a $32 licence. Go to ITS Software for more information. When you purchase a license, contact helpdesk to install it.
We offer an enhanced spam-filtering service which uses stricter "rules" to identify spam that the ITS service.

You can check spam email folders for legitimate messages.
Click on Start then Run and enter \\sol\homes\my documents\mail documents\mail then click OK. This will take you to your email folder where you will see various mailbox files. Or, visit the WebMail, click on mail and check the .mbx files.
