Game theory means rigorous strategic thinking. It's the art of anticipating your opponent's next moves, knowing full well that your rival is trying to do the same thing to you. In the 2012 Shann Memorial Lecture, Professor Dixit will combine common sense with counterintuitive theory to illustrate a new way of seeing the world. He will show how nearly every business and personal interaction - from pop culture, TV, movies, sports, politics, and history - has a game theory component.
Professor Dixit is one of the world's most influential economists. He has made significant contribution in a range of areas, including micro-economic theory, game theory, international trade, industrial organisation, growth and development theories, public economics, political economy, and the new institutional economics. He has help visiting positions at MIT, the International Monetary Fund, the London School of Economics, the Institute for International Economic Studies (Stockholm), and the Russell Sage Foundation.
