Richard has more than 20 years commercial business experience.
He is CEO of Wesfarmers, having joined the company in 1993.
Since then has held several senior executive positions, including general manager of Wesfarmers' business development department, managing director of Wesfarmers Landmark Ltd and deputy managing director and chief financial officer of Wesfarmers.
Before joining Wesfarmers, Richard worked in various commercial roles at Tubemakers of Australia Ltd.
He is a patron of the Hackett Foundation at UWA and also holds directorships at Gresham Partners Holdings, Australian Railroad Group and at the Fremantle Football Club.
