Business School

Izan is a Professor in Finance and the Deputy Dean of the UWA Business School. She completed her Bachelor of Economics degree with first class honours at Monash University and completed her MBA and PhD degrees at the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago.

Her first academic appointment after her completing her PhD was as a lecturer at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) at the University of New South Wales. 

Izan first joined UWA in 1981. She was appointed Professor in 1990, and served as Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance from January 1994 to December 1999. She left UWA to take up an appointment as Executive Dean of the Division of Business, IT and Law at Murdoch University in April 1999, but returned to UWA in June 2000.

Izan was elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia in 2004, was chair of UWA's Promotions and Tenure Committee from 1996 to 1998, and was deputy chair of the Academic Board from 2001 to 2002. 

She served as a director of AlintaGas for five years from 1995 to 1999, and was inaugural chair of ArtsWA's Arts Venture Capital Board from 1996 to 2000. She is currently a member of the Black Swan Theatre Company Board.
