Admission and Commencement Dates 2019

Scholarship Rounds

There are three scholarship rounds for candidates wishing to commence in January 2019.

  • Round 1: 1 July 2018 (CLOSED)
  • Round 2: 20 September, closing soon
  • Round 3: 21 October 2018

*Offers for the MBA FT will be made on a rolling basis throughout the year however scholarships will only be awarded at each round.

How to apply

To apply for the MBA Full Time, you must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). To arrange a GMAT exam, visit Please arrange for your score to be sent directly to UWA Business School. Our GMAT code number for the MBA Full Time is DSL-QR-84. GMAT scores are valid for five years from the date you take the test so if you have already taken the test, please ensure that your GMAT score is still valid.

High-quality colour scans of original documents are to be uploaded into the application portal prior to assessment. All supporting documentation below must be included:

  • Proof of citizenship (one of the following: (passport (and visa if necessary) or birth certificate or Australia Citizenship certificate)
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Personal Statement
  • Evidence of academic English language skills
  • A valid GMAT test score report
  • Two Referee Reports
  • Academic transcripts

Candidates will not be considered until a complete application has been submitted.

Admission requirements

All students meeting the below eligibility criteria will be short-listed and will then normally be ranked according to their GMAT score. The highest-ranked candidates will be interviewed. (Faculty will determine the proportion of candidates to be interviewed, depending on the number of eligible applications.)

Interviewed students will be assessed as suitable or not suitable based on 'demonstrated leadership potential' as determined by the Faculty and offers will be made to students who achieve a satisfactory interview.

To be considered for admission to the MBA Full Time Intensive an applicant must have:

1. An approved bachelor’s degree

2. Meet the University's English language competency requirements

There are a number of ways to meet the University's English language requirements.

3. A valid Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is a requirement for admission to our MBA Full Time Intensive.

GMAT scores are valid for five years from the date you take the test so if you have already taken the test, please ensure that your GMAT score is still valid. Please arrange for your score to be sent directly to UWA Business School.

4. Relevant work experience

Three years' relevant work experience, or two years' relevant work experience and a GMAT score of at least 650.

5. A satisfactory Personal Statement

Your Personal Statement is a major part of your application. Below is the criteria by which you should prepare your replies.

Please attach a personal statement addressing the following questions in 1,000 words or less.

  1. What are your short-term and long-term career goals and are there particular sectors that you would like to work in? How will an MBA help you to achieve these goals?
  2. What steps have you already taken to help you achieve these career goals?
  3. What can you contribute to the MBA cohort and UWA Business School?
  4. How have you demonstrated leadership in your professional and personal life (provide specific examples)?

6. Two satisfactory references

Choose your two referees carefully. Detailed below is the information required.
  • Name of candidate:
  • Referee details: (Name, Title, Organisation, Email, Phone)
  • How long have you known this applicant?
  • In what capacity have you known this applicant?
  • Does this applicant have outstanding leadership potential:
    Yes/No/Maybe (please provide examples to illustrate your view):
  • Has this candidate demonstrated excellence in pursuit of their professional or personal goals?
  • Does this candidate have strong interpersonal skills (i.e. Are they a good team member?; Do they relate well to people?; Are they trusted and well liked?)
  • Does the candidate have strong communication skills:
    – Written communication?
    – Oral communication?
  • Would you recommend this candidate for an intensive, cohort-based MBA program?
  • Is there any other information you are aware of that may be relevant to this application?

7. A Curriculum Vitae
