This course provides non-accounting graduates with the opportunity of acquiring knowledge and skills in accounting. 

Upon completion it provides for accreditation by CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants.

Course structure

The course consists of twelve units comprising:

a) Ten compulsory core units:

ACCT8531 Financial Accounting: Theory and Practice
ACCT8633 Accounting for Planning and Control
ECON8503 Economic Management and Strategy
FINA8432 Introduction to Finance
LAWS8508 Commercial and Company Law
MGMT8504 Data Analysis and Decision Making
MGMT8506
Ethical Dimensions of Organisations, Management and Leadership
MGMT8610 Applied Professional Business Communications

b) Any two of the following units:

ACCT8521 Advanced Corporate Financial Accounting
ACCT8522
Principles of Auditing
ACCT8637 Principles of Taxation

The MPA (Advanced) consists of 16 units and is for those students wishing to undertake a further 4 units from the list of MCom Specialisations.

Admission requirements

Domestic students

An undergraduate degree of any discipline other than a degree with an accounting major or equivalent with a weighted average mark of at least 60 per cent of this University or equivalent from another tertiary institution, as recognised by the Faculty.
